Cardiopulmonary O/E: Case 2 Notes

You have been asked to conduct an initial assessment for a new admission on your respiratory ward. Margaret is a 74 year old female with severe COPD who has presented with an acute exacerbation. Margaret is a smoker of 60 pack years and has extremely limited exercise tolerance (20m mobility nil aid) due to her SOB. She has T2DM and hypertension (medicated). She lives alone in a single storey house with 2 step front and back access, and receives bi-weekly assistance for cleaning and shopping. You check her overnight observations, she is stable with a SpO2 of 86%, BP of 124/73, and a RR of 21. On observation, she is lying supine with 2L O2 via NP.
